Bubble Tube Cleaning Guide

How to Maintain Your Bubble Tube

We are often asked: “What’s the best way to maintain our Bubble Tube?”
To help, we’ve put together this simple guide on how to clean your Bubble Tube and how often it should be done. Proper maintenance ensures your Bubble Tube remains safe, visually appealing, and fully functional.

Why Regular Cleaning Matters

  • Water should be changed every 4–6 weeks to prevent algae growth and maintain optimal performance.
  • Neglecting cleaning increases the risk of pathogens, malfunctions, or even leaks.
  • Using the correct maintenance fluid helps reduce algae formation and keeps the water clear.

We recommend BCB Fluid for Bubble Tubes to maintain water clarity and minimise algae growth.

Cleaning the Exterior
  • Wipe down the tube surface and base cover with a mild detergent solution.
  • Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can cloud or weaken the acrylic.
Changing the Water

Empty the Tube

  • Siphon the water using one of our Bubble Tube Siphon kits.
  • Drain into a sink, bucket, or external drain.

Refill

  • Refill the tube with fresh, clean water.

Note: In some areas, water is more prone to lime scale or bacterial growth, which may require more frequent emptying and cleaning.

Optional Sterilisation

  • A diluted solution of a sterilising liquid, such as Milton, left in the base overnight, will kill any algae forming in the base.
  • This step is especially helpful if the water has not been changed regularly.

Proper care ensures your Bubble Tube continues to be a safe, enjoyable, and visually stunning sensory feature for all users.
